The effects described above are inherent peppermint, which is usually used for brewing tea. If you don't want to eliminate this plant from your diet, try finding spearmint. It does not affect hormonal levels, does not have a hypotonic effect and, when used rarely, has a beneficial effect on lactation.

The effect of mint tea on children

Doctors do not recommend drinking mint tea for children under 5 years of age. Menthol contained in mint often causes allergic reactions. Do not give mint tea to your child if he has kidney or nervous system diseases. Also be aware of tannins - they affect digestion and can lead to constipation. Some mothers use mint tea in small quantities to relieve a child's fever.

If you want to introduce mint tea into your child's diet, remember two things:

  • When making tea for your child, use half as much mint
  • It’s better to talk to your pediatrician first

Peppermint tea may have a negative effect on infants. If a nursing mother drinks mint, this leads to heart rhythm disturbances, including in the baby. During this period, you should refrain from drinking mint tea.

Drink contraindications

Like anyone else medicinal plant, mint has contraindications for use. You should not drink mint tea:

  • in case of individual intolerance to components;
  • for allergies;
  • people with low blood pressure;
  • with varicose veins;
  • pregnant and lactating women (exceptions are made only on the recommendation of a doctor);
  • children under 5 years old;
  • for men experiencing problems with potency.

Even if you have no contraindications, drink mint tea in moderation so that it actually brings benefits and not harm. Drinking too much of this drink may make you feel weak and dizzy. As with any medicinal herb, you shouldn’t overdo it with mint.
